The system identifies <strong data-start=\"2426\" data-end=\"2451\">seven types of damage<\/strong>: lateral wheel marks, lateral cracks, alligator cracks, patching, potholes, crosswalk blur, and white line blur.<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2566\" data-end=\"2926\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A grayscale-based depth estimation technique is also developed to estimate damage dimensions at distances of <strong data-start=\"2675\" data-end=\"2691\">3.5\u20137 meters<\/strong> without requiring specialized depth sensors. Experimental validation achieved a <strong data-start=\"2772\" data-end=\"2822\">Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 19.4%<\/strong> for damage size estimation, while the proposed model can process images at speeds of up to <strong data-start=\"2914\" data-end=\"2925\">136 FPS<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2928\" data-end=\"3170\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The approach can operate with standard automotive-grade cameras and provides detection and measurement capabilities that can support <strong data-start=\"3061\" data-end=\"3169\">road condition assessment, maintenance planning, resource allocation, and road infrastructure management<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This research presents a computer vision-based approach for road pavement damage detection and assessment using a monocular camera mounted on a vehicle.
