Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Assessment and Monitoring System

Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organization)

This system assesses and monitors the quality of marine and coastal ecosystems, along with providing deep analysis and modeling tools. It also includes Marine Spatial Planning Tools to support spatial planning. Currently, the seas and coasts are facing a crisis in terms of resource abundance and environmental quality due to a lack of systematic management and integration, leading to chain problems.

Adopting the Ocean Health Index framework is one approach to maximizing benefits for ocean ecology. It involves collaboration from all sectors to link and exchange relevant data on marine and coastal ecosystems, marine and coastal resource-based economies, and socio-economic activities utilizing the sea and coast. This integration aims to enhance efficiency in management, planning, policy-making, evaluation, budgeting, and public outreach. It also aims to raise awareness and knowledge about conservation among the public and various agencies, to effectively and appropriately address issues according to the goals of security, prosperity, and sustainability.
