Transverse Profile and Rut Depth Survey Services Using TPL

iNFRA provides Transverse Profile Logger (TPL) survey services for organizations requiring pavement transverse profile and rut depth data. The vehicle-mounted survey system enables continuous data collection along surveyed road sections.

iNFRA provides services covering survey planning, field data collection, data processing, data analysis, and survey report and data delivery according to the scope of each project.

Survey Data

  • Transverse Profile
Transverse profile data collected along the surveyed road section to represent the elevation and shape of the pavement surface and support the analysis of pavement deformation.
  • Rut Depth
Rut Depth data calculated from Transverse Profile using the simulated 2 m straight-edge method.
The data can be used to support pavement condition assessment, monitor the occurrence and changes in rutting, and support road maintenance planning.

Survey Applications

  • Network-Level Road Survey
Systematic surveys across large areas or road networks to establish Transverse Profile and Rut Depth databases.
  • Post-Construction Quality Survey
Collection of transverse profile and rutting data to support pavement quality inspection after construction or improvement works.
  • Pavement Maintenance Planning
Using Rut Depth and Transverse Profile data as supporting information for pavement condition assessment and maintenance planning.
  • Rut Depth Monitoring
Monitoring Rut Depth along road sections to compare and track changes in pavement condition.

Survey Service Process

  1. Survey Planning
Define the survey area, routes, distance, data collection interval, and required output format.
  2. Field Survey
Conduct the survey using TPL installed on a vehicle according to the survey plan.
  3. Data Processing
Process Transverse Profile data and calculate Rut Depth according to the specified method.
  4. Data Analysis
Analyze the survey data according to the objectives of the project.
  5. Report & Data Delivery
Prepare reports and deliver data in a format suitable for further use.

Suitable for

  • Network-level road condition surveys
  • Post-construction pavement quality inspection
  • Monitoring the occurrence and changes in rutting
  • Road maintenance planning and prioritization
  • Developing Transverse Profile and Rut Depth databases
  • Supporting Pavement Management
  • Project-level or multi-route surveys

Transverse Profile and Rut Depth data provide information on pavement deformation at both road-section and network levels. The data can be used to support pavement condition assessment, monitor rutting trends, and support road maintenance planning.

The iNFRA team provides consultation and survey service design based on the project area, survey distance, road type, data collection interval, and required data format.
