iNFRA and Thai Red Cross Society Share Lessons from Southern Thailand Floods, Strengthening Thailand–Malaysia Cooperation
On August 26, 2026, iNFRA, together with the Thai Red Cross Society and relevant organizations, participated in the project “Lessons Learned from Disaster Relief Operations in Southern Thailand: A Case Study of Flooding in 16 Southern Provinces” in Songkhla Province. The project provided a platform for exchanging experiences and approaches to assisting people affected by the floods in late 2025, while also gathering knowledge and Good Practices to further enhance disaster preparedness and response in the future.
During the event, participants exchanged experiences on the use of the “Phonphai” application to support disaster information management and coordination. The application facilitates information sharing among partner organizations, monitoring the evacuation status of vulnerable groups, reporting incidents and requesting assistance, as well as coordinating donated supplies. These capabilities help ensure that assistance can be delivered rapidly and aligned with the actual needs of affected communities.
In addition, iNFRA participated in the 1st Bilateral Meeting between the Thai Red Cross Society and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, under the theme “Strengthening Cross-Border Humanitarian Cooperation.” The meeting served as a platform for exchanging experiences and operational approaches in humanitarian assistance between organizations from the two countries. Participants included representatives from the Thai Red Cross Society, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Headquarters, and its three border-state branches—Perak, Kedah, and Kelantan—as well as representatives from the Malaysian Consulate, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and other relevant organizations.
The meeting also highlighted the application of the “Phonphai” application to support disaster alerts, requests for assistance, and coordination of relief operations. In addition, the concept of “Disaster-Ready Communities” was discussed, with a focus on strengthening the capacity of individuals and communities to prepare for and effectively respond to disaster situations.
iNFRA’s participation in these activities reflects its ongoing collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society and partner organizations to leverage technology and knowledge in support of disaster management. It also contributes to strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness, preparedness, and inclusiveness of disaster response and relief efforts.
